A Capable New Unit
Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School 's NCC Boys Unit is a rather drill-based unit. Since its conception in 1999, more and more cadets are enrolled in Precision Drill Squad to spice up our cadets' “army daze”.
As a standard progression in our training program, our Part A (sec. 1) cadets can expect to get inducted to the “army lifestyle” through basic drills, physical conditioning, simulation M16 shooting and a taste of camping in school. Our Part B (sec. 2) cadets continue to learn about aspects covered in Part A, including an adventure-based camp as well as become trained in orienteering too. Next, the Part C (sec. 3) cadets not only get a chance to shoot M16 live rounds, climb Mt. Ophir, but also joins the Part D (sec. 4) cadets to run the whole unit. Thus, all cadets have something new to look forward to every year.
Our performance has been excellent so far, securing two successive Gold Awards in the past two Best Unit Competitions, as well as awards at both shooting and orienteering competitions.
Together, officers, CLTs and cadets of our Unit are working hand in hand to secure our third successive Gold Award in the Best Unit Competition 2005.
