Fencing

Here in PRCS, we teach our fencers that through fencing, they will understand that :

•  Hard work can be satisfying.
•  Exercise is important for total fitness.
•  One can be defeated and then bounce back to success.
•  Aggressive feelings can be channeled into higher emotional attitudes.
•  In confronting many problematic situations one can learn to come up with solutions.

The spirit of fencing can best be embodied by Paul Gallico, a well-known author and columnist who began fencing at age thirty-seven, who spoke from experience about the attractions of fencing:

"It is the release trigger for the outpouring of personality, temperament and self. It is an axiom of fencing that five minutes on a strip behind a weapon, and a fencer has revealed himself, his nature, his character, his honesty, his mental capacities - his very essence. As you are, so you will fence. You can conceal nothing, nor can your opponent. Your inner selves will clash upon the strip as sharply as your steel - there is no royal road, no easy shortcut to the joys of combat fencing. The price is ... hard work and discipline, of sometimes tedious practice drills. But the rewards therefore are great and satisfying. Once the drudgery has been put behind, the fun comes fast and furious and never ending."

In the year 2005, our fencers have achieved exemplary results, winning 8 golds, 10 silvers and 10 bronzes in various competitions ranging from The national U20 championships, schools B and C division championships.
