SYF Central Judging Competition 2005 - SILVER!
The Chinese Instrumental Orchestra was one of the first few musical groups nurtured at Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School . Formed in 2002, it first performed at the School's Official Opening Ceremony in that year. It then went on to perform at numerous school events, including the school's Open House-cum-Orientation Day held in January of each new year. It was awarded a Bronze Award at the SYF Central Judging Competition 2003.
Growing steadily in size, it made its debut public performance in Crescendo 2004 held at Victoria Concert Hall. Since then, the Chinese Instrumental Orchestra has made commendable progress and has grown from strength to strength. It clinched a Silver Award at the recent SYF Central Judging Competition 2005 and we owe this achievement to our team of committed instructors, dedicated seniors and sectional leaders and the hard work of the teachers and members. Part of the preparation for the SYF Competition included an orchestral exchange with Northland Secondary School on 8 and 9 April 2005, where we exchanged ideas to improve our performance and played duets together.
The CIO will now focus on providing a platform for its members to be exposed to public performances. One such performance that 30 CIO members attended was ‘A Folk Engagement' presented by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra held on 5 March 2005 at the Singapore Conference Hall. The CIO, in collaboration with the Guzheng Ensemble, is scheduled to perform in the ‘Resonant with Music' Concert Series, open to a public audience, on 30 August at the Singapore Conference Hall. We look forward to seizing more opportunities to enrich the musical experiences of the PRCS CIO. |
